Hidden Self - Original Artwork 2015

This piece was created in 2015, during the height of the Simply Jess era — a moment when the lights were bright, the bookings were nonstop, and the persona I built was at its strongest. People loved the version of me they saw, but the real me stayed hidden. Only my true circle got a chance to see this side. 

The quote on the piece “We fear losing the version we created even when it’s breaking us” is the truth of that era. I didn’t realize it then, but the persona I built so well would eventually become the thing I had to break through to step into my purpose. This piece marks the beginning of that shift — the moment my art journey truly started, even if I didn’t understand it yet.

This artwork is a reminder that fear isn’t always about the world. Sometimes the fear is letting go of who you had to be… so you can finally become who you really are.
